Sporting goods fall under different EU rules depending on the item. Strength and fitness equipment for home use should meet EN 957, while sports toys fall under the Toy Safety Directive with EN 71. Since December 2024, all consumer products are covered by the GPSR (Regulation (EU) 2023/988), which requires an EU-based responsible person and a documented risk assessment.
Materials in skin contact, such as grips, bands and mats, must be REACH-compliant; PVC-free and low-phthalate formulations are standard but should be backed by test reports. For load-bearing items we scrutinise welds, breaking load and fatigue resistance, and send critical parts for laboratory testing.
Packaging and labelling determine smooth customs clearance: correct CE marking where required, warnings in the local language, weight and load ratings, and a complete technical file are prepared before shipment.
