Textiles & apparel
Importing textiles and apparel from China
Whether jersey basics, knitwear or technical performance fabrics, we manage garment production across China's textile clusters, from fabric selection through size sets to Oeko-Tex and REACH compliance.
What we source
We cover both knits and wovens: T-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts and jersey basics, shirts and blouses, trousers, dresses, knitwear, and sportswear or performance apparel. Accessories such as beanies, scarves, bags and socks are included.
In home textiles we source bedding, towels, curtains, table linen and cushion covers, mostly from the Nantong area. For promotional textiles we arrange embroidery and print finishing directly within the garment factory.
For fabric we draw on the vast supply in Keqiao, Asia's largest textile market, from cotton jersey through polyester blends to recycled materials with GRS certification.
What matters most
Apparel carries no CE mark but is subject to strict material requirements. REACH Annex XVII restricts azo dyes, nickel in metal parts, formaldehyde and PFAS. Oeko-Tex Standard 100 is the practical proof that goods have been tested for harmful substances and is demanded by most EU retailers.
Children's wear is a special case: EN 14682 governs cords and drawstrings to avoid strangulation risks, and small parts, buttons and appliqués must be pull-test resistant. We build these requirements into the pattern from the start.
Correct fibre composition under EU 1007/2011, care labelling and origin marking are also mandatory. We have fibre content verified in a lab so labels do not diverge from the actual goods, a frequent cause of legal warnings in Germany.
How we source
We begin with a tech pack: measurement chart, material specs, construction detail and colour targets (Pantone/lab dips). On that basis we gather comparable quotes and have a prototype plus a pre-production (PP) sample made for you to approve before the run.
During production we check seams, measurements against the size chart, colour fastness and fit in an AQL inspection. Size sets are re-measured on a sample basis, because a two-centimetre deviation in fit already drives returns.
We consolidate fabric, trims (zips, labels, polybags) and garment making so that a delay at one sub-supplier does not block the whole order.
Why buyers use My Air Ship
Textiles are a discipline of detail. Our team knows the clusters, speaks the language of the sewing floor and can tell from the feel of a sample whether a factory can truly hold the required quality.
We protect you from the classic textile risks: mis-declared fibre content, fading dye, imprecise size sets and missing substance certificates. We settle these points before production, not during a claim.
From the sampling round through finishing to consolidated delivery into Germany, we manage the full process with a single dedicated contact.
FAQ
Common questions
- Is an Oeko-Tex certificate enough to sell in the EU?
- Oeko-Tex Standard 100 evidences substance testing and covers much of REACH, but it does not replace obligations for fibre labelling, care instructions and, for children's wear, EN 14682. We make sure all the evidence fits together.
- How is sizing and fit secured?
- We work from a binding measurement chart and have a PP sample made for your approval. At final inspection we measure samples of every size against the chart and document the tolerances.
- Can I specify my own fabric or recycled materials?
- Yes. Through Keqiao we can source specific qualities and recycled fibres with GRS certification. This usually raises the minimum quantity and lead time, since the fabric must be produced or reserved separately.
